Iguana love, Galapagos style!

These cool reptiles were everywhere we looked on the Galapagos island of Espanola. They are usually mostly all black in color. The young ones are born jet black. As they grow, occasionally they change colors based on their diet. We even saw some with splotches of red on their sides (a coloration they get from the color of the algae they have been eating … it can change with their diet). The males, however, also get a beautiful blue hue along their backs and legs when they have “love” on their minds! This is a small painting I did while traveling in this unique and beautiful place.
